Hi all,

Just in time for the Esri International User Conference (11-15 July), Esri has been busy releasing a lot of interesting new features/services (including the Home-Use Program). Among those, there are many new/enhanced features added to the ArcGIS.com. If you're a frequent user, you'll certainly appreciate:
  • Drag-and-Drop Files
  • Support for OGC (WMS)
  • KML Support
  • Enhanced Group Item Management
  • Renaming Layers
  • Improved Feature Editing
Especially for the ArcGIS Explorer Online,
  • Drag-and-Drop Files (CSV and Shapefiles)
  • Support for OGC (WMS)
  • Feature Display
  • Map Dashboard
  • Undo/Redo
  • Legend (Finally!!!)
  • Queries
  • Multiple Selections
  • Filtering Features
  • Custom Symbols
  • Sharing Presentations
  • Map Dashboard
  • Undo/Redo
  • ... (and many more)

Cheers,
Jawoo

    Dear all,

I look for gridded data for West Africa for length of the growing season based on climatic parameter. Does anyone have such data or knows a good source where they are available? Alternatively I could make use of monthly data for evapotranspiration.

    Thank You,

    Klaus

    klaus,
for gridded climate datasets you could try CRU TS 3.0 data or CRU TS 2.1 ( both temperature & precipitation and some variations) depending on the period of your interest.
for rainfall TRMM data is another excellent source.
    best

    Hi Klaus,

You might check out the good old FAO-IIASA Global Agro-Ecological Zones data:

    FAO: http://www.fao.org/geonetwork/srv/en/metadata.show?id=73&currTab=simple

The gridded dataset on               Global length of growing periods: http://www.fao.org/geonetwork/srv/en/resources.get?id=73&fname=73.zip&access=private

Or when you need/desire modeled data into the future, check out our IMAGE data: http://themasites.pbl.nl/en/themasites/image/model_details/managed_land/CropandGrassProductionModelinputandoutput.html
