Hello Parents! I hope you are all doing well amidst this COVID-19 turmoil!

I realized that over the past couple of weeks and months my weekly emails have become more irregular. I do apologize for the change! There are a couple of reasons for it. One is that since I have taken over the role of English ministry pastor back in the fall, I have been spending less time with the students. I have been blessed with a lot of good volunteers and mature student leaders who are able to given teaching and leading responsibilities while I try to transition more into English ministry.

Secondly, I will be the first to admit, that during this time of quarantine...I have sort of been at loss as to what to say. There are times where I have been profoundly disappointed or discouraged thinking about life has been profoundly changed in light of it. I know that some of my emotions are natural reactions to what is going on...but I also realize that there are times when I would let my discouragement cloud my view of God's goodness, His sovereignty, as well as the promised rest He gives to us in Christ. I think that there are times when pastors, or experienced Christians are discouraged by their own doubts, or lack of faith.

These sad moments have made me realize time and time again that I need the Gospel! If I can only rely on the strength of my faith to get me through...what hope is there? If I gauge my understanding of God's love for me based solely on how good a job of being a pastor I am doing....."how many people did I encourage today?" Then I am in trouble!

Pastors, as much as everyone else need to be reminded of God's powerful love to rescue and sustain in these times. He is still working, even when I feel like I am not doing a good job....especially when it is temporarily impossible to continue with regular church life.

I found this article helpful as it is a does a good job of saying what I often times have been feeling during this time. I hope you are able to be encouraged as I was!

"So what is God doing in all of this? For one, I think He is calling us to rest in Him more deeply and, as a result, to come to know Him more intimately. Simultaneously, God is asking us to entrust “our” ministries and the spiritual development of “our” students to Him, that we might be more fully assured that His Spirit continues to work even as we are not able to be physically present. God is clarifying our vision of who He is – and it’s all for our good and His glory."

I hope that you're able to join us this Sunday for our YouTube service!!
