What a great time we experienced at our recent WorkCampNE service week! Many students were challenged to consider how Christ dying for them sets them free to love and serve others. I hope you were able to join us last Sunday as we heard from many students about the lessons they learned and how they hope to continue to love and serve others back here at home.
This Sunday is our "family worship" in the English service. We also encourage families to worship together, but everyone now and then we hold "official" Sundays for families to come and sit together and hear from God's word, sing worship songs, and take/observe communion. We hope you can join us!
Benefits to worshiping as a family
1. God has given parents the ultimate responsibility to oversee the spiritual growth of their children.
*Youth ministers see your children a small fraction of their lives.
2. You have 6 years (7th-12th) to worship together as a family! The reality of life situations is that you may not have these opportunities when they leave for college or start out on their own.
3. Be familiar with the Biblical teaching, worship songs that your children hear and sing.
* I am sure that we can all remember times when we have asked our kids what church was about...and they don't know...or they say it was "fine"...or "boring".
4. Provide visible examples to your children of what it means to participate in the life of the church.
One other announcement:
On 8/18, there will be a combined worship service with the Chinese Congregation in the MPR. There will also be a baptism celebration after the worship service. See you then!
"I knew in my heart that because Jesus died on the cross for sinners, I am set free. Not only am I free from sin and shame, but I am free from living a life based on performance and involvement. I am free from comparison and the lies of the world that tell me I will not succeed in college unless my schedule is full and I am known by many. Jesus has overcome the world! (John 16:33). No matter what my circumstance, my identity should rest alone in Him and His truth."
God bless!
