Replicate Google Calendar like functionality within Application using ColdFusion

All,

We have an application using mainly CF and UI technologies like Accordian, jQuery etc. and other jQuery plugins.

We want to do what Google Calendar does basically. Show other users calendars, ability to schedule interviews, send invites, track accept/ reject, show availability of users and so on.

Not sure how we can do that? What API's are available to our disposal?
AS I understand creating interface won't be that difficult. The main challenge is in talking to different calendar softwares like Outlook, Google Calendar itself, Lotus Notes etc. In the phase 1 we can think about integrating to just Outlook but we still need to crack it.

Any pointers in this direction will be great help.

I'd suggest not reinventing the wheel if possible!

Most calendar services use CalDav, so this may also help:

There's some very basic iCal and rss functionality which may be a good starting point for you.
