@Tony
Have you looked at profitbricks?
They have a complete virtual datacenter.
I am quite satisfied with them.
You could shut down unused machines and only pay the storage. For cfwheels/database testing you could fire the machine up, install and test the database and shut it down afterwards.

Another option is to get a hold of Jordan at Vivio Technologies. I bet he would set up whatever VMs that you would like with whatever OSes and DBs that you need. They'll often do it free for an open source project like ours. (For example, cfwheels.org runs on a nice VPS for free.)

But did you see who is now playing in the cloud and creating some thunder over AWS throne.

Actually, MySQL and Postgres are available right now and yes, Jelastic supports CFML-based applications.
You may also check our documentation on Railo deployment.

P.S. Jelastic's UI allows you to upload up to 20 files imultaneously, so probably that's not big issue considering all conveniences provided be Jelastic cloud

Maksym,

i know this really isn't the place for this, but need to ask anyways :)

What databases does Jelastic support? If it can support the big 4 (MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL and Postgres) as well as being able to deploy Adobe ColdFusion on it, then this would become _the_ godsend for me when testing wheels.

Hey Thompson,

That's a good remark. Actually, you can upload up to 20 files simultaneously through Jelastic UI and we are thinking on providing an option for folders uploading.
BTW, you are welcome to share your experience on Railo deployment and post any kind of questions on Jelastic dedicated Community.
Also any issue raised will be quickly resolved by support team, so make sure you are there.

I was trying to setup CFWheels on Jelastic recently. Following their documentation, I was able to get Railo up and running fairly easily but later realized that to get CFwheels on my enviroment, I'll have to upload each file one by(bl**dy) one because the do not have  a feature that allows you to upload folders in whole.

After digging a bit, I decided that I was going to repackage the railo.war archive with cfwheels already installed in it. Mind you, I did google to see if this had already been done.

Here's the link to my Railo4.war file for anyone who wants to give Jelastic a try.

Cheers.

Hey Thompson,

Agree, that this feature would be very useful and make the installation process even easier.
As a workaround I can suggest you to pack your files and folders into archive, upload it as a single file and then unpack.
Though you will need to have some java code performing this operation (unpacking).
Our support staff can help you with this. You can contact them through our Community forum.

Hi Maksym,

Contrary to what you've been saying, having to upload a framework like cfwheels  by manually creating folder by folder is a hassle. I love Jelastic(Which was why i did what I did) but I thought that the inability to upload folders was a terrible oversight.

Why upload anything when you can push from Git or SVN? I would think the best practice would be to push or pull from version control, no? That's what platforms like Heroku do.

Nice. Was unaware that AWS did that. Very intriguing!

@Chris That's why I love AWS because you can use GIT to deploy your apps without having to wonder what files have changed and having to do it manually and the best part is that they use versioning so you can always roll back easily to a previous release.

You can use Git/SVN in Jelastic as well.
Maven node will build and deploy your projects really quick.
