Hi everybody,
Hi everybody, I am Awe Dayo from Nigeria, and I am coordinating the layout section of the CFTT South-North Journal. I am attaching a document that contain the guidelines for articles for the journal.
People or group interested in submitting articles for the journal should please follow these guidelines for the layout purpose of the journal and to ensure that we get out articles that will meet any journal requirements/standards in the world.
This guidelines are not cast in steel, and if you think you have a better suggestion you are very welcome to make your thoughts known.

Also,I will also like to suggest the following column or section for the journal apart from the (scientific/ acedemic/intellectual)papers:

Meet my City:
Where CFTT members will have an opportunity to tell others about where they lives, the local attractions and anything they want others to know about their cities. They will be able to send in 2 or 3 pictures (ofcourse in digital format).

Scholarship, Internship, Jobs and Conferences Opportunities:
Every member is expected to contribute to this section, this is essentially an information sharing avenue.

Delegation's Corner:
This is where each delegation will be given a chance to outline their activities, talk about their members, etc.
The goal and aim of this is to stimulate greater level of cooperation between delegation and to provide a paltform to share ideas.

Interview Section:
This is where we will conduct interview with policy makers, stakeholders and other relevant people/organisation that has anything to do with issues that CFTT are interested in.
Any member can conduct the interview in their locality(but must informed the editors in advance), or it may even be conducted via the internet.

I am pretty open to suggestions about all this.
Thank you all in advance.
Regards,
Awe Dayo, PMP

Hi Dayo.
This sounds good. It would be great if you can give word limits on articles as well. This would make things clearer for people who wish to get involved.

Thanks

Dear Dayo,

Thanks for this. A lot has gone into this structure from you.

Somehow I feel the contributors need to be given a lot of flexibility.
The kind of rigidity that this format suggests, might scare some
people away. Me, personally, I don't mind sticking to this structure
but feel if things are made simpler, our scope for more articles will
broaden.

Looking at it from the reader's point of view too, could this
structure misguide potential readers with a sense of "too deep", "too
serious"? I personally, when I see such stuff, I avoid reading
(probably foolishly!) cos I feel I can't put all that energy to
understand the contents!

However, this is only my view. Other's views are absolutely essential
on this.

Harshini.

Dear Hashini, Thank you for the point you have raised, I agree that we have to achieve a delicate balance between having a journal that conforms to standard and at the same time produce a document that is fun to read. I will go back to work and come up with something acceptable, but like I earlier said these rules are not cast in steel. @Krittika: I totally agree with you, I think it should not be more than 2 pages double typed. What do you think? I want to hear from you before I send it to everybody. Regards, Dayo

Hi Dayo, everyone,

I think the format is okay for those g/local projects which people have completed and people want to share. But for the other articles, say a commentary or a review, we can maybe just set a minimum and maximum word limit? And at the start give a general theme by which articles should revolve around? What do you think?

Best,
Denise
