Hi,

I've been searching for a way to insert a comment using cftextmate, either to comment out a block of text, or just to place a new comment. I see there is a block of code in the bundle that seems to address this need as shown below, but I'm not sure how to use it, or if I can.

{ shellVariables = (
{ name = 'TM_COMMENT_START';
value = '<!--- ';
},
{ name = 'TM_COMMENT_END';
value = ' --->';
},
);
}

Hi Steven,

Thanks for answering. But that doesn't seem to be working for me. ;(

Thats odd because mine works with that hotkey as well..

If you highligh the entire block and hit CMD + / it should wrap the whole highlighted section in a CF comment.. if you are at the end of a line and hit that hotkey it will comment only that line. And if you are on a blank line it will create the comment with your cursor in the middle ready for you to start typing...

Which bundle do you have installed? There are several versions.

You have to have the file set to ColdFusion. Double check that in the bottom of the screen.

I seem to have 2 CF bundles installed, as well as the Railo bundle. Maybe that's mucking it up? It doesn't work no matter what bundle I choose.

If I understand the use of the term "file type" correctly in this case, ColdFusion, from the selector at the bottom of the interface, to the right of the "Line:  Column:  " indicator.

yes that is correct, and you are using textmate and not that "e" thing right?

no idea what is wrong but, you might try a different bundle... create an xml file and try that key and see if it works for a comment.

Thanks for staying with me on this Steve.

I tried it with an XML file I have open. The file type is XML and [cmd+/] doesn't do anything. Neither do any of the other shortcut key combinations I've tried with /.

something sounds screwed up... might try reinstalling cmd / is the default key for adding a comment in all bundles.
