Hi Guys,
Hope you are settling back into life where you don't get to go hiking every afternoon...
Thanks for brainstorming this opinion piece with me, in response to the oral "contamination" issue. I am considering making this an unsolicited commentary to ISME (details below).
I wrote a draft, using the Island Biogeography ideas we discussed as a framework, with the hope that people will come away unable to ignore the undeniable truth that oral and lung communities are in constant contact with each other. I did present the beginning of a re-analysis of Pradeep Singh's data without confronting the fact that our conclusions are actually quite opposite so that it does not have a confrontational flavor. Suggestions are very welcome!
To make edits, you can find the draft in two ways:
1) I have posted this in a shared google document in our CFTelluride folder that all of you should be able to access and edit:
Google docs keep track of revision histories (look in File > Revision History) and allow for comments too; I will keep my updates in this document as well. Please give comments by next Friday, August 23rd, and add your name to the list at the top if you are contributing.
2) I am attaching a pdf and a word doc here too in case some of you prefer that, you can also email me comments. I will be out of town from August 16th-22nd.
:)
