As I am working on my presentation and before I get too far along. Is there a conference template that we need to use?

We haven't discussed that. Although I think it would be a professional touch if we made one available for the speakers that would like to use one.  Do any of our speakers have artistic skills to create a professional looking "CFSummit: Vegas" slide deck template?

Some use Powerpoint, some use Keynote, some use PDFs and some build their presentations in HTML5.

I wouldn't know which formats to require on behalf of the speakers.

I'd say we pass on this.

Hi all.

I’ll work with Kishore to identify the presentation template needs.  We agree that we should all be using a standard and have a professional, clean approach. We have a creative team supporting us, so we’ll develop the template to support the various formats that the team will be using at the event.

For now, you can work on the content elements and we can determine the best and easiest way to standardize on the look and feel.

Cheers, Karen

Sorry, but require a standard template?  Absolutely not. In no way should we require speakers to use a template unless we desire to have the most boring, uninteresting presentations we can.

I will fight every effort to impose a standard.

Respectfully, through forcefully,

I'm fine with it either way. Since it is Adobe's show they might want to have a uniform appearance like MAX.

I only ask that if there is a template and we must use is that it is provided sooner rather than later. Regarding formats, I need it in Keynote.

While it might be useful to have a common title slide that all the speakers use, I could not agree more with Jason.

I spend hours and hours developing the templates for each of my individual presentations. Each template is designed around the content of the talk and has common elements that are reflective of the structure and content of the talk. Any good presenter will do this. By requiring the use of common template, you force people to adapt to a lowest common denominator in information design, which does not serve the speaker nor the audience well. Required templates also tend to reinforce the worst aspect functional fixedness when building a deck with PowerPoint: bullet points.

I have no artistic skills so I will gladly let someone else send me a boring corporate template to use.

I don't mind having slide templates provided for me.  I like it when a conference has the same slide deck designs.  You still get to be creative inside the parameters of the deck.

For those that think a uniform look is good, I'm not going to say you are wrong. But I am going to think it. ;)

I know it has been recommended many times to many of you, but if you have not checked out Presentation Zen or a similar approach to presentation design, then you should. If we are going to require something of our speakers' presentational styles, it should be that.

To be clear I am fine with the conference providing an *optional* template. Those that wish to use it may do so.

What I am opposed to is requiring it. I will not use one, regardless of what is decided.
