CF Summit Speakers,

The team is looking for some input on the t-shirt creative.  Here’s something that we did for another developer conference, which was well received.  The Adobe team likes this concept, but they have not been able to come up with something for ColdFusion.

Any ideas?

We have a couple graphics people on the CBR team. Should I see if they want to put forth ideas?

Kishore has a graphics team working with him.

I’ve already sent them the lightning bolt ideas … so, we’ll see what they come up with.

Thanks, everyone, for your feedback.

Seeing it's already been done, I guess not :( or maybe in the same style you guys had in the example but a bolt there with + and stuff :)

I would love a super hero or zombie lightening bolt graphic.  But most of all a shirt color OTHER than black. I have over 200 conference shirts that are black.. how bout a nice gray?

Yeah, if we can avoid black or white shirts that would be awesome.  I always liked the blue shirt we had, but we could go different and go bright with a nice red or something. Make it more memorable.

No need for zombies or super heros. The answer is in Elvis.

AFAIK, ACF doesn't support Elvis right?  Of course, if that's one of the CF11 features, then it would be perfect.

Thanks!

Actually ACF supports the Elvis (ternary) operator as of CF10. Use it all the time.

<cfset (isOnlineOnly) ? noticeObj.setIsOnlineOnly(true) : noticeObj.setIsOnlineOnly(false) />

And +100 to a shirt that isn't black or neon or something you only wear to do yard work or paint in! :)

Nope, CF10 does NOT support elvis operator. Elvis != ternary.

Elvis: displayName = user.name ?: "Anonymous"

It leaves the value alone if defined. It's shorthand for param.

Well, my understanding is the "Elvis" operator is basically a shortened version of the ternary operator (popularized by Groovy, I think).  Specifically, it is a binary operator as it only has two operands.  So given that, I'd say CF10 supports the ternary operator, but not the "Elvis" operator.

I'm also voting for a more tasteful non-black, non-white t-shirt. Grays, dark blues, etc. The "bomb" shirt that was going around at MAX 2 years ago was also not great. It was too light/bright.

pffft, the bomb t-shirt was awesome!

I don't see what is wrong with a lighter or brighter t-shirt. Everyone sticks for the dull colors.

We have 30 emails about this and are drifting well off course. Is this the best use for this list?

I think Tim was in the right track.  The lightning bolt with something vegas themed would be sweet.   But, I am not sure people would get the elvis operator and the message would be lost.  I don't want to wear a shirt and have to explain it at the same time.

They will need to get the rights to use it since it does have a photo credit to Steve Marcus / Reuters.

But yeah, could see it used as background with something over the sky line to promote the conference. Could also cut it to a t-shirt some how, but would have to be black and know most don't want white or black. Or just use it as inspiration to make own stylized version.

You could put the Elvis operator on the shirt with the words "Get schooled." underneath, like I just was. :)
