Dear Fishco Family,

Greetings, I wish to bring this information to your kind notice that, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is offering MFSc. degree programme in seafood safety and trade and is approved by the UGC. For further details see the link http://www.cusat.ac.in/erp5/web_site_module/cusat/admissions/Admissions-2011/mfsc_2012_notify

Please kindly read the eligibility requirements below and carefully see the red colored made in the requirements.

The eligibility for admission to the course is a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries/ Food Technology/ Food Science/ Food Microbiology/ Food Biochemistry/ Zoology with at least 55% marks in optional subjects. Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries includes Industrial Fisheries/ Aquaculture/ Fishery Science/Industrial Fish & Fisheries/B.F.Sc (Nautical Science)Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology/Food Science includes B.Tech/B.E./B.Sc.in Food Science and Technology/ Food Science and Management/Food Science/Food Technology/Food Processing Technology/Food Science and Quality Control.

Apart from the fisheries degree (BFSc) course, they have mentioned many other courses. Some of the courses are having the three degree course. Suppose, if they have given admission to BSc. (Three year course) candidates and finally these will have the MFSc. degree with them. This MFSc degree is the basic requirement for any jobs for especially Asst. Prof. and ARS - Scientists. So, they will block and compete with the other MFSc degree course with BFSc. degree. Since the CUSAT is a traditional university and for the first time offering such type of degree. If they are producing BSc with MFSc., then there wont any value for us.  It will directly or indirectly effect on the other MFSc students in the same state as well as in the other states.
Here I want to place a small question stating that whether they will give any admission to BFSc graduates in other food related courses.
