Folks on AFR's foreclosure call today were discussion a problem that's
come up repeatedly re. various Administration programs to assist
homeowners (e.g., HAP, Hardest Hit Fund, and, presumably, AG settlement
as it ramps up) -- namely, how few people who are eligible are using the
programs.
One suggestion was to push Treasury to use funds that it has to
advertise aggressively so people who are qualified can benefit.
Folks on the call thought that it would really help if pressure was
applied on Treasury from Republican members. So - following our
continuing question re. finding more ways to start engaging/mobilizing R
borrowers, this could be a good/small ask to try out. Obviously,
it's way shy of some of the actions I've heard may be in the works
(homeowners storming offices to demand their share of the unspent
millions) - but could fit on a scale of tactics.
I'm waiting for more details, but just to put it in the hopper.
