Hey there web crawlers. Is anyone familiar with a MLS IDX search that
is actually worth a damn, something nice and developer friendly with
some XML or JSON data? I had an experience with an IDX provider a
while back ago and most of them are just horrible, this one made me
display all search results in an iFrame that I had no control over
whatsoever. By the way, the MLS IDX is a property search for real
estate folks they usually pay a monthly fee to use the service.

Thanks folks, see you Saturday

Hmm... this kind of question would sure fit into the 'I need help' section of our forum... *cough* *cough* ;)

I had to work with a MLS IDX provider last year and yes it was pathetic. I was hoping to be able to scrape the data but my client didn't want to spend the extra money for me to develop the app. Instead I just developed them a listings manager where they manually add the listing and photos themselves. I guess they would rather spend hours each day adding new listings than to pay me once to automate the task. [giggle]

Maybe that could be a potentially profitable venture to step out on: Develop a scraper which would automatically read the [poorly formed] markup from the provider and strip out the unnecessary tags leaving only raw data to be futzed with.

Cheers,
Mike G.
