Hey,

Wondering if it's just me or is anyone else finding that cfml tags aren't auto closing when you write them in IntelliJ 13 EAP?

i.e. if I write <cfscript> I don't get the auto closing </cfscript> tag?

Hey Mark, I think it's just you, sorry ;-) Works fine for me in builds 132.556 and 132.637. Maybe try it in a new/empty file? I often notice that parsing errors elsewhere in the file can cause all sorts of other functionality to fail or false-positive invalid code highlighting, etc.

I got that, but I don't see it my version? I guess I am using the community edition… you are going to tell me they don't have it for the community edition…?

Just to follow up, this is what I see when I go to Intellij IDEA ->Preferences -> Plugins -> Install plugins

If I look in repositories… I get this:

I am using Cardea … going to try on IntelliJ IDEA 12 CE …

Correct. It runs only against the Ultimate edition at the moment.

Hey Mark, since you're such a smart Java dev guy you should update the plugin so it can work on the CE version and use all features in the Ultimate version.  Just sayin'! ;)

I didn't know what the rules of the plugin were.  I thought it was open sourced (as you were working on it) and thus assumed (bad of me to) that it would work in the community version.

Yep, it's part of the commercial package.

Grab the full version of Cardea, it'll be in there.

Ahh, alas my evaluation has expired. Nevermind. I just wanted to check out the plugin, and it is not really worth buying IDEA (when it's not my editor of choice yet) to evaluate an open source plugin that I would want to contribute to… seems kinda backward.

I shall just loiter in the wings :)

Mark - you can get the EAP (beta of 13) for free here: http://confluence.jetbrains.com/display/IDEADEV/IDEA+13+EAP.  This is what you actually have to use to build the CF plugin anyhow since the source depends on it. If you need any assistance with it, let me know and I'll try to help out.  You don't need to spend any money

I would assume you would be a shoe in for the open source license. http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/buy/buy.jsp

Would it be ironic to write eclipse plugins in intellij? ;)

I haven't done Eclipse plugins in years ;)

Not getting on well with this. Installed it and I can see the plugin, but I tried to add a project and I guess I am too much of a noob in IntelliJ. I was expecting to see the files in my project but alas no…

Hmm.. Back to the drawing board. And I wouldn't ask for an open source license until I know I can devote some time to the plugin

The essence is:

Up to including v12 it was closed source and had/has dependencies that make it work with Ultimate only.

It's open-source now, no one stops the community from removing the dependencies (I believe they lie in the SQL integration) and make it work on the community edition in v13.

Cheers
Kai
