Below are the instructions for creating a Google drive, uploading data to it, and sharing the data with the CFMIP community via your project's wiki page.

1. Sign up for google drive (https://drive.google.com), which gives you 15 GB of storage for free.

2. You may also wish to download the application that mounts a virtual google drive on your local machine (and syncs its contents), so you can treat it like any other local directory and not have to view it as a webpage.  To do so, simply click on "Connect Drive to you Desktop" icon on the left hand panel of your Drive website, and follow the installation instructions.

3. Place any data that you would like to make available to the CFMIP community in their own sub-folder.  Two options:

a) If you've skipped step 2, click on the "Create" button on the left hand side of the Drive webpage, then select "Folder."  Be sure to give the folder a name. Then, upload data to this folder by dragging files into the drive, or using the upload button (the up arrow button next to the "Create" button).

b) If you've done step 2, you can do all this from the command line, for example:
mkdir ~/Google\ Drive/folder_name/
cp filename.nc ~/Google\ Drive/folder_name/ .

4. Change the sharing settings.

a) Share the folder. On the Drive page, select the folder(s) you want to share by checking the boxes next to each folder.  Then click the sharing button, which looks like a person next to a "+".  Select "Anyone who has the link can view" and click "Done". This will also provide a link to the folder that you will want to provide on the wiki page of your project.

b) Share the files.  Within the sub-folder you wish to share, select the file(s) you wish to share by checking the boxes next to each file.  You can select all files by clicking the box in the column heading.  Then click the sharing button, which looks like a person next to a "+".  Select "Anyone who has the link can view" and click "Done".

5. Provide the link to the Drive folder on your project's AncillaryData wiki page.  For example, see https://code.google.com/p/cfmip-diag-cloud-error-metrics/wiki/AncillaryData
