There's a bill that the Sustainable Economies Law Center is hoping to sponsor this year that seeks to preclude local ordinances from banning the growing of edibles in people's yards (with limits, exceptions and restrictions --- this is California, of course). I think this would be dear to the hearts of a number of people on this list (though it's not so much an issue in the City of San Diego):

This is something that people so inclined ought to be discussing: what are its prospects? what can you do to help? The person at SELC who is going to be working on this is Christina Oatfield, who was the point person on last year's Homemade Food Act (AB 1616).
