For YOU and all interested in San Diego Food Policy, this would be a great meeting/gathering to come to! (see email below)

The "1 in 10 Coalition" is the amazing group (of individuals and org's) that spearheaded the Community Garden changes in the City of San Diego, followed by Urban Ag. What's the next local food policy issue to work on? Come chat about it with folks in this awesome community!

If you can't make it, I'd be happy to bring your input and/or update you afterward.

Subject: [sdfoodshed] (1in10) Meeting: 1 in 10 Coalition for the holidays
To: sdfoo...@googlegroups.com

Hello all 1 in 10 Coalition members ~~

The 1 in 10 Coalition has been dormant since the City of San Diego passed its urban agriculture ordinances back in February. As a reunion and a chance to assess what, if anything, people want to do next (and who should do them), we'll be having a meeting on Thursday, December 20th at 6:00 PM in the Project New Village office (5106 Federal Blvd., Suite 103, San Diego, CA 92105). As this is the holiday season and this would be something of a reunion, please feel free to consider it a snack/dessert potluck if you're so inclined. Also feel free to invite new blood, as a number of the old hands aren't necessarily in a position to devote the proper time to new campaigns.

I've had a number of conversations of late about people seeing the need for 1 in 10. For instance: Filner's ascendancy to mayor is an opportunity, especially as he talked up food and local communities on the campaign trail. It's been suggested that we reach out to him, including the possibility of grants and getting him to get Park and Rec to come up with feasible community garden regulations. That's only a few of the suggestions I've heard of late. Bring your own. ;-)

Thanks -- Parke
