Economy and politics of Africa

I'm proposing this kind of large topic for Discussion Group. There's a really good conglomeration of different TED talks at the link below. Listen to the one about Africa at the top of the list. One of the speakers proposes that international aid does more harm than good, and there other subjects addressed, but not the current political upheaval in North Africa. Perhaps this could be narrowed down a bit for the Discussion Group.
