Attached please find a sponsorship information sheet and registration form for this conference coming up in October.  As you may recall, the Out of the Closet conference was a great success when CFGALLA hosted it a couple of years ago, and last year's conference in Jacksonville was a success as well.  Though we are not hosting the conference this year, we have an opportunity to get the CFGALLA name out and reach a diverse cross-section of the state by sponsoring the conference at one of the levels indicated.  I'd ask the Board members to consider our options and whether we wish to participate at some level as a sponsor of the conference.  I welcome your input.

I don't see any utility to CFGALLA in a sponsorship.

We can (and should) get an updated list of all FL Bar members in our geographic area for free from the Bar for our own marketing purposes.  As far as I can tell, the amusingly-named FALLA website doesn't exist yet, so a mention there is of dubious utility. In my opinion that effort would be much better aimed at updating our website whose content is mostly circa 2012.

I think FALLA is half-baked and, as an extensively-e-mailed pseudomember of FALLA, I cannot figure out what benefit a gay lawyer in the Orlando area would receive from FALLA that they do not already get (or should already get) from CFGALLA.  I firmly believe that CFGALLA's time and fiscal resources should be used for purposes aimed at our own membership and not as an angel investor in tangentially-related groups.

I’ve been to at least two of the seminars, and I do find some utility in standardizing practices and discussing developments in the law.  A number of other state LGBT bar associations exist around the country.  I think CLEs, social opportunities, and participating in the bigger bar have huge advantages on a statewide level.  Do I think all of those things can be done in the Central Florida area, yes.  But I think combining forces with the other local LGBT bar associations is helpful as well – and there are four of them essentially now.
