James,

I'll start by saying that New Atlanta has never tested this.
Having said that, I'll now say this:

If you mean client-side Active X (embedded in an HTML file the way an
applet would be) then sure that should totally work since it really has
nothing to do with BD at all.

If you mean server-side Active X then I'd say the following options
exist for you:

1. use <cfobject> or createObject() to call other code that then calls
the Active X
2. use <cfinclude> or <cfforward> to invoke a JSP or Servlet or ASPX
page that
then calls the Active X
3. use a CFX custom Tag whose implementation then calls the Active X
4. if running BD .NET, you have other options such as making direct
calls
to the .NET framework which (I assume but haven't confirmed)
provides
a means to invoke an Active X Control on the server-side.

OK, there's probably other ways too, but that's several.
If you intend to explore any of these, I highly recommend that you
utilize the various BD docs:
http://www.newatlanta.com/products/bluedragon/self_help/docs/index.cfm

and/or the BD Mailing list:
http://www.newatlanta.com/products/bluedragon/self_help/archive_search/index.cfm

Thanks for you interest in BD.
If you run into problems which you feel are caused by BD, please let us
know via bluedrago...@newatlanta.com
