As was discussed in a previous thread, I've now using CFMX7 to create
CFEverywhere apps. I've already referred to Phil's thread about how to
reduce the Jetty package size, and was able to trim a few megs from the
Derby directory by deleting the \docs and \javadocs folders. Now I
just need to figure out how I can reduce the package size for the
CFMX7.

I've already deleted the "installers" folder (trimmed about 25-30mb).
And it seems that I can delete the entire CFIDE directory (are there
any consequences to this besides the inabilty to access CFAdmin?). But
what other components can be safely deleted? Right now the package
size is a whopping 150mb. Ideally, I'd like to be able to fit
everything (including the CFM files for my app) on a 128mb usb micro
drive. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
- yvan

This is another reason people like BlueDragon/J2EE for CFEverywhere. It's
just a 10 meg web app/WAR file, where is CFMX is over 70MB (And still bigger
in CFMX 7). Perhaps others will offer solutions for you to winnow more out
of the CFMX web app, but I wanted to remind you of BD's inherently smaller
size.

I'll also remind that the other point of CFEverywhere is to enable folks to
build apps to resell, and with CFMX it's going to cost you $1299 to bundle
in your app, while BlueDragon's business model for such sales can have your
cost being much smaller. As my colleague Brian offered earlier on the list,
contact him with any questions on the business aspects.

Finally, it's worth clarifying for this whole project that both CF and BD
offer free single-IP developer editions. Those are not intended in either
product to be used for production deployment--not even if there is just one
user of your product. You must buy a license for each deployment (but again
remember BD's advantage there).
