Is there a way to format code based on project settings? I see that
there's a builtin method for this for java, wondering if there's a
CF-aware version as well.

I'd also be happy to use a command line tool if there is one.

This is one of those things that needs us to get a proper
parser/modeller in place, and formally define CFML syntax in
appropriate terms - both of which are unfortunately non-trivial tasks.

I think some people have in the past tried using HTML formatters,
which can help a bit, but of course there are significant differences
between the two languages which mean that wont work perfectly, and may
not be configurable in a suitable way.

I'd love to see something that worked for CFML, CFscript, and SQL - (I
would hope we could piggyback on existing SQL work).

I'd be happy to contribute as time permits. I could use some pointers
to setting up a development environment for hacking on cfeclipse
itself.

The only formatter specific for ColdFusion I ever found is this
http://www.logichammer.com/format-html/
but I've not tried it, so I can't tell you if it works well or not.
They says it can be used with Eclipse.

Raffaele,

I use logichammer.com's formatter and it works fairly good.  You can, via the config file, turn tags on/off.  I use it mainly to fix old code from other programmers.  I saves hours of time trying to find missing <td> tags in HTML.

It really is too bad it's not available for Mac or Linux users. So a
platform-agnostic formatter tool is still needed.
