coldfusion 8 extensions no rds settings tab

Hi,

I have just installed the cf8 extenions for cfeclipse but when i go
into window - prefrences - coldfusion there are tabs for debugMappings
and debugSettings but no RDS tab. CF does have RDS enabled.

Anybody any ideas why i am not even seeing RDS settings?

From what i read there in the comments its not a bug at all but this
has been done on purpose. Good of them to mention it to people eh? i
only wasted 4 hours trying to find out what was wrong

My set up is vista

Eclipse:Version: 3.3.2
Build id: M20080221-1800

CFMLPlugin: 1.3.1.5
Java: 1.6

So the debugging is under ColdFusion and RDS is under Adobe?

What version of the extension did you download - they must have
changed that at some point.

Downloaded the extensions from adobe the other day so i assume its the
very latest - CF801-extensions-for-eclipse

Nando - I'd imagine the latest are on the main Adobe download site:

http://www.adobe.com/support/coldfusion/downloads.html

When these were originally introduced there were a few issues and some
people provided patched downloads - but now I think the Adobe versions
should be all up to date.

You can always grab the URLs from coldfusionportal.org. One of the
main reasons I built that site was because I've always found adobe.com

I did notice on the installation instructions:

At home I have the original version installed on Ubuntu and I know
I've run the debugger at home. I really wish Adobe would get on the
ball and make this stuff work on all 3 platforms...

Me too :)

I'll have to try this over the weekend and see how much is really
broken. I know there were some issues with the wizards I think but I
never use those anyway. Will backup my old version first :)

itself is worth it's weight in gold.

I can't imagine why they put that comment in there. I'm running it
right now, the latest version, and I can't see any difference between
OS X and Vista other than the wizards not working on the mac. If
that's the case, they should just box up the wizards as a separate
plugin. I can't say I've ever actually used one anyway. I almost
think of the line debugger as a core technology for cf now.

I also have the impression Adobe's site is bit of a mess as far as navigation goes, for the likes of us at least. I'm on OSX, so the Windows Only part gave me pause. The version I'm using I found in a blog post from one of Adobe's employees, who said that the version available that shipped with the installation DVD didn't work on eclipse 3.3. I don't know what wizards you all are talking about but the rds query
browser, cf line debugger, and log viewer all work wonderfully in
linux (ubuntu hardy) with eclipse 3.3.2.

The version of the plugins on adobes site right now is the best
version, and yes with the release of cf 8.01 a new version of the
eclipse extensions was released and the rds tab was moved. Threw me
off the first time I tried to set it up on my new workstation.

what does this have to do with cfeclipse?
