I apologize if this is not the right place for this post but I could not add a new issue in Trac. Since updating to the most current dev release, I lost my Outline and Method views for CFCs (does not matter if they're script-based or tag-based CFCs).

If I missed something on Trac for posting an issue, please let me know. I just wanted to make sure this was reported.

Thanks!!
Craig

Have you tried resetting your perspective and looking for them under Window >  Show View ?

Have you tried doing another update?  I have 1.4.5.201101271359 here from the Dev updater.

Thanks for the reply, Stephen.

I must apologize. I did not write my description clearly. I intended to note that the content of the Outline and Methods view are gone (they're empty rather than showing the outline or methods for any active CFCs). The actual views are there.

Thanks, also, for posting your version number. I'd checked for updates before posting but Eclipse did not see any available on the dev channel (update-dev URL). However, when I opened Eclipse's "already installed" panel and checked for updates to the dev plugin from there, it saw the version that you have installed.

Unfortunately, once that version () was installed, the Outline and Methods views remain empty. If I get some time today, I'll try installing CFEclipse on a bare-bones Eclipse install (rather than my current version with all its plugins, etc.).

Hmm weird...

Well.. Just so you know. My method and overview views are populated with "stuff" (tm).

Definitely weird! Very good to know that you have "stuff" (tm) :) in your views.

I figure it's got to be something in my setup/config. I'm going to set it up today in a plain Eclipse on this Mac and then another one on a virtual PC if my first attempt on a clean install fails.

Thanks, again!

The most likely culprit is a bad parse. Have you tried with various
files, maybe just a bare-bones one with next to nothing in it?

Also, do you see anything in your error log? Show View > Error log

Hi, Den,

I have tried with bare-bone components (script-based and tag-based) as well as checking some standard (read: simple) CFCs and some complex. Same deal.

I do have a ton of entries in the Error log. Most of them, however, do not seem to relate to CFEclipse and note key binding conflicts. The only one that sticks out as CFEclipse-y is (shortened log entry):
Warning
Tue Feb 01 10:47:36 MST 2011
While loading class "org.cfeclipse.cfml.images.StartupHandler$1$1", thread "Thread[main,6,main]" timed out waiting (5000ms) for thread "Thread[Worker-8,5,main]" to finish starting bundle "org.cfeclipse.cfml_1.4.5.201101271359 [705]". To avoid deadlock, thread "Thread[main,6,main]" is proceeding but "org.cfeclipse.cfml.images.StartupHandler$1$1" may not be fully initialized.

I still feel like it's a plugin conflict or some such. I'm going to break from some code now (since I've been dinking around online anyway :) and go for a fresh install of Eclipse with only the CFEclipse plugin installed. I'll post back on how that goes.

Thanks!
Craig

Yeah, the timeout is ok, it's related to the image previews.

Cool. Let us know how it goes, and if it doesn't work, check the log
on the new install and see if anything jumps out at 'cha.

Well, no go on the fresh install. I just have Eclipse for Java Developers (most current build from the Eclipse .org website) and CFEclipse installed.

Does this error (from the Error log) mean anything to you? It references VFSView for CFML/CFEclipse but doesn't seem to relate (by name) to the Outline and/or Method views:
eclipse.buildId=M20100909-0800
java.version=1.6.0_22
java.vendor=Apple Inc.
BootLoader constants: OS=macosx, ARCH=x86_64, WS=cocoa, NL=en_US

Command-line arguments:  -os macosx -ws cocoa -arch x86_64 -product org.eclipse.epp.package.java.product -keyring /Users/craigkaminsky/.eclipse_keyring -showlocation

Error

org.eclipse.ui.PartInitException: View descriptor not found: org.cfeclipse.cfml.views.explorer.vfs.view.VFSView   (stack trace follows this line, but, cut here for brevity).

Going to try on a Windows 7 VM now.

Thanks, again,
Craig

Hrm. No, that VFS error is just an artifact of a rename -- reminds me
I need to correct it -- but it doesn't really effect anything besides
the initial CFE perspective showing the file explorer.

Weird. I wonder what's going on. Have you tried associating the
project with the CFE nature? Properties of project > Configure > Add
CFE Nature?

That really shouldn't affect this though... hrm... is the color
coding working? If you do a context-click on a file, and go to "open
with", does it say it's opening it with CFE?

It's definitely something on my Macs that's causing it (it's the same on both). A fresh install on a Windows VM and the outline and method views worked great for tag-based CFCs (they did not work for script-based CFCs).

On my Mac, the projects are associated with CFEclipse and when I right-click on a file it does allow me to open with CFE (and that's what's selected). Also on the Mac, color coding works great. Really, everything works awesome on the Mac installs other than those two views.

I'll dig a bit more later today on my Mac to see what it might be. As a quick check, I killed my CFEclipse prefs just to see if they were the culprit (they were not). Anyway, I'll post back later today or tonight once I get a chance to mess around on the Mac a bit more.

Best,
Craig

Hi, again, Den,

Well, it must be some combination between my setup and the two most recent development builds. Last night, I uninstalled CFEclipse and then reinstalled but went with the Preview release. With that release (v. 1.4.5.201101190951), everything has worked perfectly with the Outline and Methods views for tag-based CFCs but still blank for script-based (though that may be expected behavior with this version).

When I updated to either of the new development build, no go for either view.

I am happy to try anything else or provide logs, etc. if you think it's worthwhile or helpful. For now, I've just 'rolled' back to the Preview release and all is well in the world of CFEclipse!

Best,
Craig

Hey, Den,

For when you get back from OCFS or sometime thereafter, I wanted to let you know that I still have this issue in 1.4.5.201102181535 (newest build). I got a bit more information, however, from starting Eclipse with the -clean directive from my Terminal.

Here's the error I saw:
1. java.io.FileNotFoundException: /Applications/eclipse/Eclipse.app/Contents/MacOS/plugins/org.cfeclipse.cfml_1.4.5.201102181535/dictionary/dictionaryconfig.xml (No such file or directory)
... more stack trace (I can send)

2. java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Problem loading dictionaryconfig.xml
... more stack trace (I can send)

3. CodeFoldingSetter::foldTags got a null from doc.getCFDocument().
CodeFoldingSetter::foldTags got a null from doc.getCFDocument().
CodeFoldingSetter::foldTags got a null from doc.getCFDocument().
CodeFoldingSetter::foldTags got a null from doc.getCFDocument().

These three errors show in Terminal each time I open a CFC. It appears that it's trying to load the dictionaryconfig.xml from the wrong directory (it's looking in /Applications/eclipse/Eclipse.app/Contents/MacOS/plugins/org.cfeclipse.cfml_1.4.5.201102181535/dictionary/

instead of
/Applications/eclipse/plugins/org.cfeclipse.cfml_1.4.5.201102181535/dictionary/

It seems like the lack details in either the outline or method views comes back to this dictionary not being loaded. I wiped out my workspace and tried anew but that did not help.

Please let me know if there is some additional details I can provide or other things I can try!

Thanks!
Craig

Quick follow up.

The dictionary loading issue is the problem. I created a workaround but I don't know the real solution :).

To get the workaround rolling, I created the directory /Applications/eclipse/Eclipse.app/Contents/MacOS/plugins/org.cfeclipse.cfml_1.4.5.201102181535/dictionary/ and made sure it had all the dictionary files in it.

When I did that and restarted Eclipse, my outline and method views were operational again.

Would CFEclipse look in this directory because of something in my workspace/settings or is this something in the source code (I looked through some source code but, admittedly, I was just poking around and did not find anything meaningful regarding where CFEclipse sets the location in which it looks for dictionaries).

Thanks!
Craig

Just a bump. I installed the latest eclipse on OSX today and the CFEclipse plugin.

The work around from Craig fixed SOME script cfc outline views but not all. I use outline view pretty heavy and had hopped to move from cfbuilder to cfeclipse.

Thanks.
