Dear Georgetown University Departments, Faculty, and Staff,
The Community Resource Expo is one of the many events that comprise Welcome Week, an annual university tradition that is meant to welcome new and returning students to the fall semester through various interactive events. The Community Resource Expo, in particular, is an opportunity for Georgetown departments, offices, and businesses to showcase their services and initiatives to the university community. During the event, each Community Partner will have a 6' table that can be used to to create a display or interactive activity. The 2013 Community Resource Expo is tentatively scheduled to take place in Sellinger and the Leavey Program Room on Wednesday, September 4 from 10am-1pm.
This year's theme is "Make Your Own Luck", based on the how people consider the number "13" unlucky but we want students to "make their own luck" during the school year. In accordance with this theme, this year's Community Resource Expo will be entitled "Finding Luck at Georgetown", reminding students how they can best utilize many resources at school and in the surrounding community to "seize the day" with their time in college. You may now register to participate; however, the registration deadline is Friday, August 2 by 5pm.
Ali,
I think this is a great idea. Alex and I can most likely run lead on this. I might not be able to make the actual event because I think I'll have class, but I'm more than happy to try to figure out something for our table to do, and Alex thinks he should be free to table.
Unfortunately I'm not in DC this summer (still in Cleveland at NASA), so I can't make any in-person shindigs, but please keep me in the loop if anything does come out of those brainstorming sessions!
All the best,
Michelle
