Attributable to "vallehombre" - it would be inspirational if it weren't so depressing:

The ONLY thing our self-identified elites fear is actual democracy.

The only thing citizens have to fear is our self-identified elites.

As long as citizens accept the claims (made solely by our self-identified elites) that our self-identified elites are above the laws meant for little people, that they are smarter, prettier, or just all around better than anyone else, anywhere, any time, for any reason, well... we're gonna continue to get the wrong end of the stick.

As long as citizens accept their claims we will continue to be treated exactly as they see us - stupid, gullible and of no consequence. Our children are already consigned to a generational system of wage slavery, our environment will continue to deteriorate, our poverty will spread to every single household outside the "gated communities," and the carefully designed structural inequities of the current system will make any hope or change impossible.

A society where a few have almost all, many have nothing, and failed consumers have no right to exist - is they way we live today. Do we want it to be our legacy as well?  Slavery our gift to future generations.

No on can "give" another freedom. All that can be "given" is license and that is always conditional.

Nor can freedom, once realized, be assumed a done deal or safe at any time. The practice of democracy requires accepting responsibility and part of that is the understanding that while we are many, the few who would assume power over us will risk all rather than cede one iota of their privilege. And whatever privilege we may allow them is never, ever going to be enough.

There is nothing new in any of this. It is what humans are, it is what we do. That is why traditional remedies for our situation have tended to be so bloody.

Maybe we will do better this time, maybe not.

Either way the storm gathering over the homeland inc. will not be avoided for much longer. If it is to come, let it come now so our children will not have to weather it alone.

Peacefully, if we can. Otherwise, if we must.

Almost sounds like Chris Hedges.  If you think it is worthy of passing along, don't be bashful. Obviously it resonated with me.
