My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Greetings to you all in the name of Peace and the love that the Holy one of Israel, Jesus Christ brings. I send warm and loving salutations from here in the land of New Jersey, USA where I have been blessed to see, hold, hug,and talk to my grandchildren and their mother for the first time. I have not seen their father, my eldest child, for over 12 twelve years and in that time he has started a family. When my son left Zimbabwe to come and study here, he had just completed his A'Levels at the age of 19 years. The joy, the excitement, the uncertainity, everything that is associated with seeing your off-spring after such a long time cannot be put into words that can adequately describe the emotions.

As a result I am glad to inform you all that the meeting with His Grace, the Archbishop of Harare on Couples for Christ we on quite well.  The meeting briefed His grace on the outcome of the  Mount Pleasant conference and the rather slow growth of CFC in Zimbabwe. We also presented the 2008-9 Planning and Strategic objectives as well as a copy of the Vatican Decree and the International Statutes for his records and benefit. We also sought his advice on what other specific role CFC could fulfill in the Church and sought to have a Spiritual Director for CFC . We also sensitized him about the international split and the position we had taken as CFC Zimbabwe.

The views of His Grace were that, as CFC, we ought to market ourselves especially via Young Couples groups which were not that formalized. He saw a role for CFC within the Family Apostulate desk of the Church as well as the Natural family planning initiative .He was to table our case at the next Senate of Priests (for the Archdiocese) so as to get a Spiritual director (volunteer or by consensus) . A National Spiritual director would be considered once we were represented in at least  4 Dioceases and so would representation at other Church Organs at national level.

This I hope highlights the need for the whole CFC community in Zimbabwe to unity in the face of the challenges facing, not only our country, but our community specifically. In the light of the Archdiocese of Harare Pastoral Pla emphasizing on Evangelisation, CFC has a significant role to play. I pray that what ever differences we may  have or have had, because we are of one faith and believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, we embrace the true meaning of the prayer Christ taught us, "OUR FATHER...." and truly become ONE.

I therefore take this opportunity to inform you all that, as a result of my not being in the country, the Governance Team has agreed that Mr. Kidwell Nduku will lead Couples for Christ in Zimbabwe, of course with the full support from Ms. Nell Woelk and Mr. tererai Mutasa - and all your prayers. This leadership will not succeed unless we all unity in prayer and ask the Holy Spirit, whose work we are carrying out, to bring the community out the current dry and windy "spiritual desert".

With all my love and prayers in faith in the risen Lord,
Anthony Kunaka
