Greetings & may the "Power" be IN you!
On Resurrection Day, Jesus had a full day of things that needed to be accomplished.
After He willingly allowed death to end His life & His sufferings, He had to go to hell because He carried all the sins of mankind on His shoulders. While in hell:
1) Jesus defeated Satan and his demons in a life & death battle at the "gates of hell",
2) Jesus gave Satan his full payment (wages) of all the sins of every person on earth,
3) Jesus took back the "Keys of the Kingdom" that Satan had stolen from Adam,
4) Jesus crushed Satan's head (authority) as was promised in the Garden of Eden,
5) Jesus released all the Old Testament saints from their prison captivity (Paradise), people like Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Esther, Jeremiah... etc.
6) Jesus then took all these people to heaven for a great celebration around His Father's Throne.
Very early in the morning on Resurrectio Day, Jesus had the stone rolled away from the grave in which His body had been buried. Jesus scared the grave guarding soldiers "half to death". Then Jesus met Mary Magdalene and asked her to get His disciples ready to be "filled with the Holy Spirit". Next, Jesus had to return to heaven to celebrate His resurrection with the Holy Spirit, His Father, the angels and all the Saints, including the thief on the cross who was beside Him. In the afternoon, Jesus had to meet with the two disciples who were going from Jerusalem to Emmaus. Luke 24:13 - 35. In verse 27, Jesus had to explain to them about all the prophecies that He had fulfilled in the Old Testament. Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies of the Old Testament while He lived on the earth. This included over 30 prophecies that He fulfilled during His crucifiction. Then later in verse 44 in the evening, Jesus explained these same prophecies to His other disciples. We read in John 20:22, how Jesus filled His disciples with the Holy Spirit in the same way He had done to the first man Adam. Resurrection Day was a very busy day for Jesus! According to 1 Corinthians 15:23, Jesus is the first evidence of the "power of resurrection to Eternal Life". And we,,, IF we do not believe in this power:
1) our sins are NOT forgiven,
2) our faith is worthless,
3) our life and faith are nothing but garbage,
4) our joy is nothing but misery,
5) we live without any hope,
6) and everything that we have believed & preached is a big LIE!
1 Corinthians 15:12 - 19. This is how important it is to believe and preach the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:8 - 11. Let us learn about the Old Testament prophecies that Jesus told the disciples on the road to Emmaus.
Have a blessed Resurrection Celebration. Bill & Heather Wedel
