CFAST Version 7

[CFAST Development]

CFAST version 7 has been released and is available at http://firemodels.github.io/cfast/. Both the core model (CFAST) and the GUI front end (CEdit) have been revised.  CFAST has been extensively rewritten using well-accepted calculations and correlations from the SFPE Handbook to provide both a simpler model and one based on standard industry practice. CEdit has been reorganized to provide an easier to understand work flow, removing little-used features and adding additional visualization capabilities with Smokeview. CFAST version 7.0.1 has been released.  This is just a bug fix release.  A list of changes is available here.

CFAST version 7.1 has been released and is available at http://firemodels.github.io/cfast/.  Although largely bug fixes, the new version also includes the ability to model detectors based on smoke obscuration (previously, smoke detectors were only modeled as heat detectors that respond to a small temperature rise; now they can be modeled based on temperature rise or smoke obscuration). Visualization has also been enhanced to include vent flow through ceiling/floor vents and mechanical vents in addition to wall vents. For those of you who haven't used version 7.3.0, version 7.3 introduces a completely new input file format similar to that used for FDS. See Appendix A in the CFAST User's Guide for details. Some really old input files will need to be recreated from scratch to work with this version. Newer input files should convert to the new format when you save the file.

CFAST 7.4.1 has been released.  It only fixes bugs in 7.40. 1) an issue in CEdit where vent opening by time was not working correctly. 2) an issue in CFAST where ISOsurface files were not being written correctly so Smokeview would crash visualizing ISOsurfaces.
