Hi everybody,

can someone please tell me why the smokeview visualisation of my flame/fire looks like a canlde?

i undertook some experiments during my masters and rebuild those in cfast. although i know about the physical and empiral background and the way cfast calculates the fire in my room, i am somewhat clueless why the slice view looks like it does. For a better understanding of my question i added two pictures, one of the actual experiment and one of my cfast slice.

thanks a lot!

The visualization is not a visualization of the fire. Rather, it's presenting estimates of plume and ceiling jet temperatures. CFAST outputs the following temperatures to the slice file: upper and lower layer temperatures from the ODE solution variables, ceiling jet temperatures from the Alpert/Heskestad correlation and plume temperatures from the Heskestad plume correlation.  These models are simple so won't look exactly like a fire.
