Hi,

CFAST gave me an error message:"Target x. Front face orientation is not valid" when I changed the values for target oriantation.
Even though the values were like "right wall" and were accepted and the simulation done, after reoperning the input file the error message comes again.

A simple nput file is attached. Do you have the same message?

Kind Regards
Burkhard

I do get the same error.  I'll take a look at CEdit's error routine.

The problem is with the target specification in the file.  For the two of them, your correctly have 'RIGHT WALL', but for the other two, you have an incorrect normal vector (0,0,0) ... the sum of the squares of the normal vector has to add to 1) and do not have any SURFACE_ORIENTATION = specification.  Was this file created in CEdit or as a text file somehow?

The error message results from the normal vector being 0,0,0 but without a SURFACE_ORIENTATION specification ... I'm guessing the questionable error message about the right wall is a left over from the previous correct check.

I think the underlying problem is with the display of the target orientation for new targets. Before my latest change, the text wouldn't change from a previous target when you added a new target ... misleading the user into thinking that the specification was the same as the specification for the last target (for example, if you set a first target to "RIGHT WALL" and created a new target, the "RIGHT WALL" would still display "RIGHT WALL" even though the target was actually defined yet.  This led CEdit to write out an inconsistent CFAST input file.

I've corrected the display so it should set each new target to "USER SPECIFIED" until it's changed by the user.  Hopefully this will fix things.  A new bundle will be released shortly.
