According to Lawrence O'Donnell (noon, July 2nd):

"I revealed in yesterday's taping of the McLaughlin Group that Time
magazine's emails will reveal that Karl Rove was Matt Cooper's source.
I have known this for months but didn't want to say it at a time that
would risk me getting dragged into the grand jury.

McLaughlin is seen in some markets on Friday night, so some websites
have picked it up, including Drudge, but I don't expect it to have
much impact because McLaughlin is not considered a news show and it
will be pre-empted in the big markets on Sunday because of tennis.

Since I revealed the big scoop, I have had it reconfirmed by yet
another highly authoritative source. Too many people know this. It
should break wide open this week. I know Newsweek is working on an
'It's Rove!' story and will probably break it tomorrow."

Not at all. "Outing" an undercover operative is the kind of thing that gets
those operatives killed. That is why the identity of operatives is
classified. That is why revealing the identities even after the fact is a
felony.
If Rove _is_ the source of the information then he has committed a federal
crime, if he merely confirmed the information, then he is an accesory after
the fact. Not necessarily treason, but still a felony nonetheless.
I expect that the "investigation" into this matter will, of course,
exonerate Rove, For after all, where would the Emporer be without his Vader?

I blame the system to an extent, there's no room for third parties anymore. And the third parties that do exist are MORE extremist than the Dems and the GOP.

In Bush II's first election I was all set to vote Reform Party until they came up with Pat Buchannon as their nominee, he's one step away from a Klan robe, and two steps away from insane.

I'd thought they'd come up with someone more along the lines of a Jesse Ventura with more political clout.

Wound up caving in and voting democratic, it was the only choice on the ballot.

I can see the Cheney/Chancellor thing, but then, nobody has _ever_ mistaken
Cheney for a champion of democracy...
I refer to Rove as Vader because of his uncanny ability to use the force
for evil. A mere wave of his hand has the press chasing phantoms and
believing the lies as gospel (Swiftboats anyone? McCain a turncoat/traitor
for breaking under torture?).
I disagree with the Greivous/Rove pairing simply because he is too adept at
using the force...perhaps Grievous/Rumsfeld?
Bush is a Dark Lord, no doubt about it and his mastery of the Dark side of
the Force is surpassed only by his apprentice, Vader/Rove.
Think about it. Rove simply has to suggest that he, "finds your lack of
faith...disturbing." All it takes from him to shut up a nosy reporter,
scared to lose "access." Rove's power is seemingly limitless...

Right you are. When the press has been so cowed by the current
administration that they are afraid to ask tough questions for fear of
losing access, it is a sad state of affairs.

Even more sad is that the people are not demanding that the press ask
the tough questions.

And are not asking themselves...

Not one da** thing is going to happen to Rove or anyone else that

Not one da** thing is going to happen to Rove or anyone else that
leaked the name.

It's the reporter who has to pay with jail time, and the CIA operative
and her family that has to pay as well.

The Bush Administration will come through this unscathed as always.
Kudos to them, tough nuts for Americans is the way it's always been
with this administration.

Ummm I dunno. I'm hearing rumblings that Mr. Rove will be forced out
of the Whitehouse. Prosecution is difficult because you have to prove
numerous things including that Mr. Rove KNEW that Ms. Plame's
indentity was being concealed.
