Guys,
FYI, I have written Sports Council to complain about the conduct of BASMAL and the need for fresh elections and an AGM to change our constitution.

What happened on September 29 2012 is by no mean an AGM and therefore had no power to change office terms.

What is being called this weekend is by no mean an AGM, read the constitution and it shows the make up of General Assembly and who should be present. If this is allowed to continue, we are setting a bad tres in basketball where peoe can sit and change rules without consultation which is unheard.

I need teams to support this call for fresh elections and an AGM, please read the docs and understand why we need to make this stand. Send to me a name of your team your representative contacts so that we can collectively call for elections.

Waiting for your input and feedback.

Subject: Complaint against BASMAL over constitutional breaches and request to invoke article 15.

Dear Mr Jana.

I am writing to register with your office massive abuse of power and disregard of constitution at BASMAL.

Find attached:

1. formal complaint, all abuse grounds highlighted and a request for your office to dissolve BASMAL, forma caretaker committee and call for fresh elections. BASMAL constitution mandates your institution to invoke article 15.

2. Minutes of a management meeting which empowered the committee to change "articles of the BASMAL constitution" when such powers are vested in an AGM

3. Constitution of BASMAL, which clearly shows terms of office and powers of executives and General Assembly.

4. An email sent to Mr Raymond Banda inquiring on dates for elections and his lack of responses to such requests.

5. An email sent to Mr Khama Mphepo on same BASMAL dates and status of constitution and his lack of feedback as well on the matter.

6. An email from CEZOBAL advising BASMAL AGM call and its suprising nature of an intended General Assembly meeting which is in contrast with what is required as per constitution.

As can be seen, attempts have been made with both CEZOBAL and BASMAL to clarify the status of office terms but no straight feedback has been provided. This approach is last resort to have this issue cleared once and for all.

Our game is stagnating and its development is in danger when executives start making changes to constitution without the consensus of the affiliates.

The terms of office expired in July/August. BASMAL needs to call for new elections to take care of changes of the constitution and not through management meetings.

I wait for your office to help us clarify this problem.

DAud Suleman.
