The above painting clearly indicates Hussain ' s tendency to paint any Hindu as naked and thus his hatred..   Naked Bharatmata - Hussain has shown naked woman with names of states written on different parts of her body. He has used Ashok Chakra, Tri-colour in the painting. By doing this he has violated law & hurt National Pride of Indians. Both these things should be of grave concern to every Indian irrespective of his religion.   Out of the four leaders M. Gandhi is decapitated and Hitler is naked. Hussain hates Hitler and has said in an interview 8 years ago that he has depicted Hitler naked to humiliate him and as he deserves it ! How come Hitler ' s nudity cause humiliation when in Hussain ' s own statement nudity in art depicts purity and is in fact an honour ! This shows Hussain ' s perversion and hypocrisy. Don ' t feel shy to circulate. Atleast 10 people should know, 'HOW TOLERANT WE HINDUS ARE!' BUT... WE LACK THE COURAGE TO PROTECT OUR SELF RESPECT.

The paintings are genuine and were sold at auctions quite a while back.  Hussain is the worst kind of religious bigot who has no problem doing this with Hindu images, but is very respectful of Muslims and Christians.  There is no legal way of punishing him since he is protected by free expression.  He could be prosecuted for incendiary paintings that caused riots.  When things got hot in India, he left and now he is in the Middle East.  I believe Quatar gave him honorary citizenship.  Of course, they support insulting infidels.

I am not very religious, but when someone does this to one particular religion or group but not others, that is bigotry and I get very upset.

MF Husain, no doubt is a fantastic painter. But he earned the wrath of
Hindus resulting virtual ban to re-enter India. He spends his time
in Middle East. Recently he requested cancellation of Indian
citizenship to make way for a Qatar citizenship.

I remember him from 1968. I along with a couple of my friends used to
spend almost all evening hours in a popular joint called Samovar
located in Jehangir Art Gallery which was right across my office at
Kala Ghoda/Museum in Mumbai. He, Protima & Kabir Bedi (before their
marriage), Padam Singhvi, Devika and many artists/journalists used to
hang around there daily. He was a very likable person in his early
fifties. He never used to wear chappals nor does he now! There is a
well know elite's club in Mumbai - Wellington Club near the Royal
Western Turf Club, Mahalaxmi. Without shoes no one can enter there is
the rule. Husain was the only exemption to get a bear footed entry
after decades of attempts, but by way of the fame he earned. His most
frequent theme is Horse. Then young heroine Madhuri Dixit was adored
by him! He respected Mother Theressa. I really do not like his
attitude of hurting Hindu sentiments. It is not right. Rather it is
crazy. Unfortunately after he started his anti-Hindu-god paintings,
he was sent legal notices and he fled the country and never came back.
Now he is in his mid-90's. Like many well known painters / artists of
the world he is living longer than the average span! But surely not

For a  common man like Chandy, Oil paintings are appealing to modern art.  Once, my kannada friend consulted me to get a character for his daughter to do fancy dress. I looked at the girl. She was chubby, cute and wheatish. I thought for a moment. Then I asked him, 'Plz,  go the the 

museum at Pantheon Road, Egmore, Chennai. The first building from the south gate is the 'Art Gallery'.

Get into the gallery and turn left, if you are a man, you ;ld be fascinated and probably get stunt at the 

beauty of the  oil painting. It is the 'Nair Woman' by Raja Ravi Varma'. And  I forgot the conversation.

To my surprise, after a week, my friend brought that tiny tot with the 'Nair Woman's  attire to my house. Naturally,  the girl won the first prize  and he told me that he is not getting the right word to thank me. He gave a copy of the photo.

In many famous Hindu Temples , there are idols of nude goddess and Mating poses. Why until now any body raised some comments about this. The best attitude tiowards  the MMH's such paintings is to ' Laugh It Out.'., thats my view.

Hi Roy,

You are treading onto a potentially dangerous topic. I think people should leave scriptures out of discussions as there could be no end.

I know a 10 year old girl who was provoked by a teacher who said 'Krishna was a bastard' in a Christian Managed school by saying that "Jesus too was a bastard as he was born to 'Virgin' Mary". She was promptly shown the door.Such statements should be avoided as it could hurt religious sentiments of many,irrespective of whether Christian, Hindus or Muslims. What Hussain did was only his own interpretation of the Hindu gods for commercial exploitation, and not a reproduction of any part of any temple sculpture, which may not have drawn as much criticism.

Roy yes there are nudes in hindu shrines....but certainly they do not depict any perticular hindu god or godesses in nude or erotic postures......... Sun Temple in Konarak orissa......is famous for such sculptures.....depicting the ENERGY of Sun....as the main theme.....around which erotic sculptures are  carved out......cheers....palit
