Perhaps most of you know him. He was of the 64 batch. Perhaps you know his twin sisters Radha Devi and Suseela Devi (TT players) who studied in CET.
N. Chandrasekhran Nair passed away two days ago. He retired as the Chief Secretary of the State.

I am sorry to hear the sad news. He was a good friend of mine, though he was our senior.

I talked to Dr. Sarada Devi, younger sister of Chandrasekharan Nair yesterday.  She and family live in Lubbock, Texas.  She is younger to Suseela Devi.

Yes RS, Balakrishnan Pillai was fair and short and small in size - but held the heavy weight of first rank always - like you!! He was neighbor of Nalinaranjan ex-Tirivalla. We used to go for evening walks during holidays while in TLA. He took IAS and joined Haryana cadre. As Susan pointed out for a while he was associated VSSC. But most of his career was in Haryana and Delhi. Right now I have no contacts.

Chandrasekharan's sister Suseela was from T-series. 3 of them were thus from CET. Their younger brother Unni also was an engineer was from TKM and classmate of my wife. He had joined Merchant Navy. If I recall well their father was with Transport Dept. All children did well. May be AVSM Somnath would know the family close.

NCN used to participate in every speech competition at our college. Also he used to attend the paper presentations by the Association. Balakrishna Pillai also used to participate in speech competitions.

This train of emails totally confused me.  May be my age, being away from CET for half a century, etc.  I think finally the cloud is lifting.

Chandrasekharan Nair (CET 64, branch unknown) who later joined the IAS and was Chief Secretary to the CM of Kerala, passed away recently.

Balakrishnan Pillai, CET 65 Mech, who taught us in the final year and later joined the IAS, is alive and well and enjoying his retirement years.

Did I get it right?

Balakrishnan Pillai was a nice guy in class and outside. I have fond memories about him. I had no interaction with Chnadrasekharan Nair.

My condolences to NCN's family.

RS.

In case you missed a point, I repeat - Balakrishnan also took IAS - but joined Haryana state govt administration after resigning from our college job.         tj
