Dear ICCE Parents and Supervisors,
Carefully note below from UK to the effect that ECDL will no longer be available.
Students are therefore free to do or not do ECDL/ICDL for GENERAL Level graduation this year only, depending on what can be sourced by individuals during lockdown! Be sure to advise Ivonne or I which alternate elective you will be doing if not this ICT elective please.
And for the students who were doing the ECDL course, kindly advise me of their progress to date and send any course screenshots you have please. The following from UK will apply in such cases:
If a student enrolled with ECDL in 2020 and was not able to get any credit for it then we can refund their order.
If they completed 3 - 4 Units, we would offer a half credit. If they completed 5 - 7 Units then we would offer the full credit for ICT.
The ones who get a half credit would need to select an alternative half credit course to reach the 16 credits for General Level. Alternatively, they could complete the remaining Units through ICDL, if that is available in their area.

As of January 2021, ICCE is no longer able to provide access to the ECDL Gemini and Mosaic courses and will not be transferring to a new platform. This is because of changes to the platform and the service that the current ECDL provider offers. Students can continue to obtain credit for ICT by choosing from one of the options in the provided list (see download below).
However, ICCE is aware that this may present challenges in terms of cost and delivery for some students. The added complication of COVID restrictions may also make it more difficult to access an approved course. For this reason, the following exception has been made for the current academic year only.
The ICT credit will not be compulsory during the current academic year. Students who wish to and are able to access one of the options provided below may do so; however, those who choose not to MUST REPLACE the ECDL/ICT credit with another credit from the General Level Further Option Credit list (see download). For advice regarding students who were partway through the ECDL course, email the ICCE Office.
If you have students who are graduating with General Level this year and have not already completed an ICT course, please email ICCE to confirm their academic projection/s. |
