ICCE Coursework January 2025 Update

AI Use
Firstly, thank you to all Supervisors for overseeing essays better and addressing theuse of AI.  Far fewer essays are being submitted having used AI.
Secondly, we have reviewed the AI policy, adjusted the percentages of AI that will receive a penalty, and clarified the 4-point deduction.
If 45% - 60% of AI use is found, the student may use the same title and receive a 10-point deduction on the final mark, i.e., a 4-point deduction from the final percentage
for the repeat coursework. This means that the student will lose an entire grade.  If 61-74% of AI use is found, the student may use the same title and receive a 20-
point deduction on the final mark, i.e., an 8-point deduction from the final percentage for the repeat coursework. This means that the student will lose two
entire grades. If 75%+ of AI use is found, the student must choose another title and write a new essay or science project and only receive the lowest pass of 50 points, Grade E,
80%, as the final percentage for the repeat coursework.

Essays Requiring the Reading of Books
We are finding that students have not read the prescribed books for ICCE Literatureand Apologetics. This is a vital part of the course, and students should not just use
websites such as SparkNotes or only watch the movies of The Chronicles of Narniato find the plot.  Could you please take measures to ensure that the books are properly read? You
could either require them to set daily reading goals on their Goal Card or use a log to record their progress. An example is given in the Downloads Portal under coursework.
We appreciate your cooperation in this regard.

Intermediate English Literature Essay Titles
The title of the Intermediate English Literature Essay on Henry V has been revised for clarity. It now specifies that the essay focuses on William Shakespeare’splay Henry V as a whole rather than solely on the character of the king within theplay or the historical King Henry V.
