Dear
Principals and Administrators,
With
the LCA exit option still relatively new to many we want to
ensure that all parents and students are correctly informed
about the facts concerning university access in South
Africa. The attached letter explains step-by-step what
parents and students should know in this regard. The summary
below can also be used to communicate the correct
information to all parties involved:
-
LCA students
can
gain access to South African universities,
but must first either:
-
Apply to a
U.S.
university and obtain an
official
acceptance letter, or
-
Complete the
SAT
with a minimum score of 1140 points.
-
· The acceptance letter or SAT
results must be submitted to Universities
South Africa (USAF) as part of the
Foreign
Conditional Exemption Certificate
application.
-
· The LCA
qualification is considered a foreign qualification,
issued by an international educational authority, not a
South African body such as Umalusi.
-
· Therefore, LCA learners must
follow the foreign qualification process
for university admission or matriculation exemption in
South Africa.
-
· Applications for an Exemption
Certificate through USAF can be submitted here:

Please
feel free to contact the Qualification office should you
have any further questions regarding the information
provided.
Kind
regards,
