Hello all, I am using V 31 of CR for MS Visual Studio 2019. I have installed CR several times, with and without a runtime present, I can not locate the crw32.exe file in order to set the file association for the .rpt extension. I have several reports that run fine when created but an export of that report will not open after the fact. When trying to create the file association from C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Crystal Reports for .NET Framework 4.0\Common\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86, the only exes available are GenPSE.exe and sapgenpse.exe, neither opens the reports. Btw, all the reports are shown with the newer logo.
So if they don't have CR Designer installed or Visual Studio with the CR for VS installed there is nothing to open the reports with. You can't distribute craxddrt.dll that is used in VS to open RPT files.
My intention here is to be able to use the crw32.exe in order to set the file association for .rpt extension files. After downloading SP 33 I still don't find the crw file. My concern is to be able to both set the file association on my dev machine, as well on my end user's machines. What's my best approach to accomplish both of these concerns? Possibly for myself, it may be accomplished by installing the full version of the software, but my concern for the end users ability to set the file association on their machines remains an issue.
Hey, everyone! I am a helpdesk technician for a company that uses FAS, and I have encountered an interesting problem. There are two issues, and I am not sure if they are related. I will cover them in the order that they occur.
During installation, I receive a message that says, "Unable to save file: C:\Users\\AppData\Local\DownloadedInstallations\{6062205F-FAA9-4767-858C-98E93FI Fixed Aseets - Premier Depreciation.msi The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process" When I click "Ok" (which is the only option given by the prompt), the installation continues and completes successfully.
When a user opens Premier Depreciation and tries to access the Reports features (in the lower left-hand corner), they receive the following error: "Error occurred while processing report - Please contact your System Administrator. Details: Cannot determine path for Crystal Reports Designer program crw32.exe. If Crystal Reports is not installed, please close your application and install Crystal Reports." I tried to install Crystal Reports 11 separately, but this did not resolve the issue.
If the installation completes without further issue and the Premier Depreciation program launches fine, the first error may have resolved itself. Should there be error messages when using 2014.1, please contact Support.
Regarding the crw32.exe error, if you updated to 2014.1, you would need to download and install Reporting Server from the Customer Portal. The instructions on installing the Reporting Server and client are in chapters 6 (Step 4) and 10, respectively. 2014.1 uses a completely different version of Reporting/Crystal (SAP Crystal Reports 2011 for Sage will be listed in the client if this is installed).

There are also 3rd party solutions.

Yes I would like to open Crystal Reports from command prompt on the machines where Crystal Reports is installed.
SN
RE: Invoke crystal Reports from Command Prompt vidru (Programmer)21 Jan 05 10:59The next question is, do you want to open it within the Crystal designer?
That can be done from a command prompt by specifying the directory of crw32.exe, then passing in a valid path to the report file you want to open. Here's an example:
C:\>"C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\Crystal Reports\crw32.exe" "c:\adodept.rpt"
-dave RE: Invoke crystal Reports from Command Prompt sreeramnavale (Programmer)(OP)21 Jan 05 11:04Dear Forum,
I would like to state that I am using Crystal Reports 9.0. And in this version I do not find any way to create Crystal Reports executable as they used to be created in earlier versions of Crystal Reports.
Any direct command for running crystal from command line will be really helpful to me.
SN RE: Invoke crystal Reports from Command Prompt sreeramnavale (Programmer)(OP)21 Jan 05 11:21vidru,
I tried running command
C:\>"C:\Program Files\Seagate Software\Crystal Reports\crw32.exe" "c:\ABC.rpt"
just like you stated above but I got the error
"The file CRW.NET cannot be found. Please check that it is in the working directory as shown by the Program Manager's FileProperty command."
There is no file named CRW.NET on my m/c.
Can you help further?
Give alternate approches.
Thanks in Advance,
SN RE: Invoke crystal Reports from Command Prompt IdoMillet (Instructor)21 Jan 05 14:28You need to use the actual path on YOUR PC to the crystal exe file. However, it sounds to me like you are not communicating the actual problem.
Please state why you need to do this. Are you trying to let users who don't have Crystal installed on their PC run a Crystal report?
Cheers,

I'm currently trying to create a Crystal Report in Epicor based off of an already-made BAQ. One of the first steps is: "Set the location of the Crystal Report Executable to the location of the CRW32.exe, under the Crystal Report XI R2 installation." I can find the folder that contains crw32.exe in My Computer (win32_x86), but when I try to set the Crystal Report Executable in Epicor, I can't see the folder. I've tried typing in the file location as well, but that also doesn't work. Epicor Support has been little help in resolving this issue, and the guy I've been speaking with about it says he's never heard of anything like this happening before.
Do you have a master/service account (domain or workgroup) set up to automate processes throughout your E9 instance? Your issue sounds like one I recently experienced: on the Epicor and SQL servers, "Local System" was set to run most of the necessary tasks, but client installations outside of those areas could not resolve file locations, etc. because the services were using different (randomised) credentials.
When I tried to do my first one I had an issue with the location also. It was a while ago, but I am not sure if my issue was the same as yours. Mine had to do with the default location that was set in the SystemTaskAgent in Epicor / system Agent. Ours had the incorrect location. Once that was fixed I was able to follow the Epicor directions.
I do have Crystal Reports installed locally and was able to find the file location you were talking about. The problem is that while I can find that location in My Computer, I can't find it in Epicor. It seems like you can't paste images or attach documents here so I'm attaching a link to a google doc that shows my dilemma.
Did you have a previous version of Crystal installed on the machine?
It might be worth manually setting the file association with .rpt files to the crw32.exe file in the Crystal 2008 install directory rather than selecting it from the list.
Andy.
Data that is returned by Crystal Reports 2008 is fetched from the databaseusing PeopleSoft Query; data that is returned by BusinessObjects EnterpriseXI is fetched from the database using Query Access Services (QAS). Therefore, the data is already language-sensitive due to the automatic joining to relatedlanguage tables that PeopleSoft Query performs. No special logic is requiredto ensure that appropriate descriptions from related language tables are returnedin Crystal Reports output.
The Crystal Reports .rpt file contains the layout of the report andany text that is hard-coded into the layout, such as column headings, headers, and footers. Because Crystal Reports does not provide any ability to maintainmultiple translations of this boilerplate text in a single .rpt file, youmust maintain a separate copy of the report layout for each language.
