Call for Papers
Special Issue on Environmental Economics in Developing Countries

Submission Deadline: by March 31, 2016

The Journal of Environmental Economics and Management seeks to publish a special issue addressing pressing environmental economic issues in developing countries. The issue will be co-edited by Kelsey Jack.

Environmental quality in developing countries is a topic of increasing urgency. At the same time recent improvements in data availability and quality open up the door for new research on the topic. The aim of this special issue is to advance the understanding of the determinants and welfare implications of poor environmental quality in developing countries. Of particular interest are papers that establish evidence on the causal relationship between environmental quality and health, productivity or income in developing country settings. We also welcome theoretical and empirical papers that span the following topics:

  • Studies that measure willingness to pay for environmental quality improvements, and that investigate the relationship between income and demand for environmental quality.
  • Research at the intersection of environmental economics (market failures) and development economics (credit land, labor markets).
  • Policy evaluations particularly those that examine the underlying reasons for policy success or failure.
  • Studies of the impacts of climate change and the cost of adaptation in developing countries.

Submission Guidelines: Papers should be submitted latest by March 31, 2016. Early submissions are encouraged and will be processed immediately. Papers will undergo a normal refereeing process, and the Editors desk will reject papers that do not meet the minimal criteria for inclusion. The quality of the paper and the extent to which a paper fits the focus of the special issue are the only criteria for evaluation. Submissions should be made online at http://ees.elsevier.com/jeem/default.asp
