Hieveryone. I'm new to cisco and i was wondering if it's possible to connect a 1841 running IOS 12.4 to a mikrotik L2TP/IPSec server. The reason i do not wish to use Cisco as the server is because it is going to be used with a dynamic Public IP. TIA.

are the router accept the crypto command ? if it accept it and the virtual and pseudo is not accept then this limit in router plaftorm not in IOS image.

crypto is accept only by IOS image 9k (security advance)

The interface virtual-ppp and pseudoeire configuration requires the l2tpv3 pseudoeire-class feature, which is only available in the -entservicesk9-, -spservicesk9-, -advipservicesk9-, or -adventerprisek9- IOS feature sets. That's why you can't configure this in the -ipvoice_ivs- feature set as you have. You may want to upgrade the feature set and see if that helps.

for link sometimes cisco remove the doc. so the link will not available anymore

I our office we have mikrotik router, when we want coonect to office from ouside, we use l2tp vpn and connect to our office.

l2tp vpn work on windows 10 and windows 11 and we can use it.

but in Fedora 37 after making l2tp connection , it seems everything is OK , but I can not connect to linux server by SSH,

SSH port is open, I can ssh to server from windows when l2tp VPN is connected.

in linux when l2tp VPN is connected, I can connect to linux server by SSH.

In linux I do not have ping of server, I think it is route problem

We are having issues with customers who connect having very low tcp speed when connected via mikrotik PPTP/L2TP. Users who subscribe typically to 20Mbps are are only getting speeds of 4Mbps when connected to either mikrotik pptp or l2tp server even with encryption disabled. The same users to a windows or linux pptp server are able to get speeds higher than 20Mbps.

There is currently a github project named accel-ppp - High performance PPTP/L2TP/PPPoE/IPoE server for Linux. Would it be possible to integrate it into splynx 2.0 with the right dictionary templates as a work around for mikrotik issues with pptp speeds?

All tests performed from the server side to the client side. Notice from the server side for tcp tests speed max at 7Mbps. Which means highest speed client can get is 7Mbps. However same client connect to a linux server or microsft server implementing pptp server is only limited by the speed of the physical connection.

I think this is the issue of your local configuration or network design, maybe there is a MTU issue somewhere between points, that can cause MSS TCP problems and TCP cannot send large segments of data , maybe there is wrong queues settings, who knows.

Usually issues on PPtP or PPPoE are MTU related.

Too small MTU in the tunnel will lead to higher fragmentation and therefore more pps and decreased total performance while to high MTU will lead to timeouts and retransmissions.

PPPoE connection are ok no issues. The issues is with the PPTP and L2TP connections. I think its mikrotik specific issue. Linux (Debian8/9 and Centos9 tested) as well as Windows Servers located at same place as the mikrotik server do not have that issue so we can rule out Path MTU.

Hello! I want toi configure l2tp between mikrotik and vyos. vyos is the l2tp server and mikrotik is client. Kindly help me with this. IP for tunnel is provided by Vyos. every l2tp client has a /30 with the l2tp server interface.

On the client Mikrotik, open up the PPP window and create a new profile with the same settings as the vpn-client on the server. After that, go back to the interface tab and create a new L2TP Client interface. The Connect To field can be either a domain URL or an IP address. Use the vpn-client profile and fill out the required details.

If you want to route all of the traffic through the VPN, enable Add Default Route. This will create a new masquerade NAT rule in Firewall with source address of your network (for example 10.1.69.0/24) with out interface being l2tp-out1`. You need to disable the default masquerade rule that gives you Internet access to force the router to push all network through the VPN tunnel.

Dzięki, działa. Mam problem z dostępem do serwera plikw. Zamapowany dysk sieciowy dostępny w sieci lokalnej z adresu \\nas\ nie działa poprzez połączenie VPN. Jeżeli robię nowe mapowanie z adresem ip to mam dostęp. Da się tak skonfigurować, aby działało zamapowanie dysku po nazwie?

W połączeniu vpn nie mam bramy, czy to jest poprawne działanie?

Na innym mikrotiku ze standardową konfiguracją działa (single WAN) działa, na dual WAN nie ;( O co tu może chodzić? Gdzie szukać przyczyny?

Jest on wpięty pomiędzy modemem (WAN) a istniejącą siecią LAN (jest tu router z DHCP i DNS).

Po połączniu mogę pingować lokalne adresy ale nazwy z lokalnego DNSa nie są rozwiązywane.

W profilu PPP mam wskazany lokalny DNS. W IP->DNS rwnież.

Bezpośrednio na mietku nazwy są prawidłowo rozwiązywane.

Podpowiecie jak to naprawić?

Jeśli ktoś ma problem z podłączeniem się do VPN, upewnijcie się ze wpis firewall jest na odpowiedniej pozycji (domyślnie jest dodawany na końcu). W moim przypadku przeniesienie go na 5 pozycje rozwiązało problem z połączeniem.

Przy takiej konfiguracji po połączeniu przez VPN widzę i pinguje tylko router 10.0.0.1. Nie widzę urządzeń z sieci 10.0.0.0. Nie mogę z kompem za NAT połączyć się po RDP.

Z routera jednak widzę adres jaki dostaje będąc w tunelu, np 172.16.0.10, z rutera mogę go pingować.

Mam 450Gx4. Model ten ma licencję level 5 (L2TP do 500). Chciałbym założyć ok. 150 kont userw. Rwnocześnie korzystałoby z VPN jakieś 50-60. Przetestowałem na kilku i działa wszystko jak złoto. Czy przy kilkudziesięciu aktywnych VPN mogą wyskoczyć jakieś ograniczenia?

skonfigurowałem wszystko wg instrukcji i bez problemu mogę dostać się z zewnątrz przez vpn do hostw w lanie, ale nie mogę wejść na interfejs konfiguracyjny mokrotika (przez www).

Zrobiłem coś źle? Potrzebuję tego dostępu.

zrobiłem wszystko jak w przykładzie wyżej. Jednak nie udało mi się połączyć po VPN przez windows.

Mam stałe zewnętrzne IP od orange, przekierowałem porty (500, 1701,4500 na mikrotik). Gdzie mogę robić błąd? Czy coś robię źle? (MIKROTIK hap mini)

Mam problem taki, że część pracownikw mojej firmy ma taką samą adresację IP w domu jak w firmie i stąd po połączeniu z VPN-em nie mogą połączyć się z serwerem/udziałem sieciowym gdyż wpisanie adresu IP udziału sieciowego sprawia, że Windows szuka go w sieci lokalnej a nie firmowej. Podobno problem ten można rozwiązać odpowiednio konfigurując pole ROUTES w oknie użytkownika PPP Secret. Można prosić o podpowiedź jak to dokładnie zrobić?

Konfiguracja przebiegła prawidłowo ale pojawił się problem gdy kolejni użytkownicy zaczęli się podłączać. W momencie gdy podłączony jest jeden działa stabilnie, gdy podłączy się kolejny poprzedni traci dostęp. Co może być przyczyną. Uprzejmie dziękuję za odpowiedź.

Přistupujete pak k zařzenm v lokln sti pod lokln IP a brouzdte po internetu pod vnějš IP adresou Mikrotiku, to vše přes šifrovan spojen mezi vašm zařzenm a mikrotikem. Popřpadě si jen vytvořte přdatn spojen na vzdlen Mikrotik, napřklad pro čely jeho vzdlen sprvy či přstupu k loklnm IP adresm, a vnějš IP adresu (pro brouzdn a stahovn) si nechte původn. Tento nvod je orientovn jak na GUI, tak na konzoli. Jsou to původně moje zpisky, takže text nen plně uhlazen, ale na funkci to nem vliv.
