Dear Colleagues,
Many thanks to those of you who already registered following this email. Please share with your co-authors and collaborators in case they might be interested in registering as well.
as you might know, SKAO is coordinating efforts for the new science book, Advancing Astrophysics with the SKA II (see https://www.skao.int/en/science-users/557/advancing-astrophysics-ii for more details). The preliminary information that we have suggest that we are going to receive more than 200 articles for the book, divided amongst various science working group areas. The submitted papers will undergo a "light" peer-review to ensure a consistent standard of quality and improve clarity and readability.
We would very much appreciate if you could fill this reviewers' volunteer form
to let us know that you are available to review AASKAII papers and what are your areas of expertise. Registrations will close on 31/10/25.
A guideline on what's expected from reviewers is available at
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1AsbqU_S_CIJTEY0VDkECo0OQcr5UMfvukNEHDc0DkTs/edit?usp=sharing
Please note that there is an implicit expectation that co-authors of submitted papers would participate in the review of another paper. For those of you who are not co-authoring AASKAII articles, this is a chance to use your expertise to improve the book. Registering through the form ensures that you are asked to review papers within your area of expertise.
Reviewers will be credited in a dedicated book section - unless they don't wish to be - with no mention if which paper they reviewed.
Referee assignment will be coordinated by the AASKAII editorial board after the deadline for paper submission (31/10/25) and therefore you might receive an invitation to act as a reviewer during the later part of 2025. Referees should aim to submit their review within 3 weeks of receiving the manuscript. This will likely be at the beginning of 2026.
Many thanks for your cooperation and best regards,
Anna
