I've found that it takes about 24hours for new contacts/users to appear in Contact Sharing, but otherwise no technical issues.
Regarding AUP, we treat all contact details within Google Apps as "work contact details" as opposed to "personal contact details" and so we have no problem with this info being shared.
It would be useful though if Contact Sharing could be connected to Organisational Units - allowing us to only share staff contacts with staff, juniors with juniors etc. It becomes a problem when you have hundreds of users and the dropdown lists contain numerous users with the same first name!
In general tho, Contact Sharing is very useful.
