We have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s ICT in Education Conference, which was scheduled to take place on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th October.
Unfortunately, the number of registered attendees is too low to allow us to deliver the kind of meaningful and engaging event that participants have come to expect. Given this, we believe the best decision is to cancel the conference for now.
The environment in which we operate has changed significantly over the more than 20 years that we have been running this event. Teacher Professional Development has evolved considerably, and the widespread shift to online and hybrid learning, accelerated by Covid, has inevitably affected in-person events like ours. Likewise, Technology Enhanced teaching and learning and Computer Science education in Ireland have transformed over the years. These changes have left us in a bit of a quandary on how to progress, so, for now we take a step back and consider how best to proceed.
As a final thought: events like ours, which bring together teachers from across the broad spectrum of education in Ireland, play an important role. They provide opportunities to learn with and from each other, and are key to creating supportive, engaging learning environments for our students. As a team we would like to come back with a more relevant offering if that is of interest to educators, and to that end we will be in touch in the coming weeks to explore what that might look like. In the meantime please feel free to contact me at pamela...@tus.ie if you have any thoughts or suggestions.
