You are all invited to learn Greenfoot on 12th June, and then the
CAS NI hub meeting, 14th June at UUJ.
Greenfoot in Coleraine, all day, Tues 12th June
I am hosting in Loreto College, Coleraine. I will be showing
off some of the things I learned at the Greenfoot CAS summer
school in 2011, as well as some of the great things my students
did for CCEA GCSE Unit 2 games.
CESI members in Ulster, Louth, Sligo may be interested. Probably
too far for others, but I won't stop you driving!
CAS NI Hub at UU Jordanstown, nr Belfast, evening, Thurs
14th June - it's free!
This may interest CESI members in NI, as well as those who have an
interest in Computing education and how we are trying to rebuild
things in NI. CAS is largely responsible for the fantastic
developments in GB over the past couple of years, including new
GCSE courses in Computer Science.
The precise program is to be confirmed, though there
is likely to be at least one major awarding body showing off their
GCSE in CS. Imagine it, Board X spending 10 minutes saying why
theirs is great and why we should not go with Board Y, and
vice-versa. They have been asked to discuss issues of local
training.
There will be a chance to 'bring and brag' of your own good
practice. Greenfoot will hopefully get a mention.
We'll find out who CAS are (if you are a newbie) and discuss
useful ways to move the agenda forward in NI.
If there is anything else you want on the agenda - please let
me know!
Best wishes,
Clarke
