Dear ICT Colleagues,

Might your school have music teachers using school-owned iPads in the
classroom?

In an attempt not to have to re-invent the wheel, can someone share
how their school has iPads configured in terms of Apple ID accounts,
syncing and music sharing. I have picked up some definite pointers
here, http://courses.moodleshare.com/course/view.php?id=162

As this is a small trial for my school (2 iPads for the 2 music
teachers - first Apple equipment in the school), I am looking for a
set-up that is reasonable at that scale.

The school will be going down the Apple gift card route for the
purchase of Apps and content. Do folks suggest I set-up a single
school Apple ID account where the school purchased content and Apps
are all managed through the single account for both machines? Any
pitfalls I need to be careful about?

Thanks,
Tom

To some extent it depends what you envisage growing to. Certainly a few devices hanging off a single AppleID works fine - assuming you want them all to be equivalent. However do the music teachers have any particular requirements such as Siblelius (which is not available for iPad but is for Mac OS).

Hi Tom

I am not sure I can offer any advice on setting up but I use my own
iPad in the music class. Again I'm still only learning but as a tool
for me it's been great. As for our obsession with Sibelius or Finale
or Musescore, Garageband on the iPad does exactly what is required for
the LC technology. It offers a much greater opportunity for music
making than any of the notation software packages. It's also cut down
on the amount of sheet music I have. You can use Sibelius scorch app
to view Sibelius files and Musescore have a similar app.

Would love to know how you get on
