Useful tip for Chromebook Schools

Hi,

Our Teaching and Learning team came up with a neat little tip for our staff Chromebooks that I thought was pretty cool. They created a Google Sites page, part of which is shown below, called 'Teacher Toolkit' with shortcuts to the most popular links and tools, forms, etc. They set access to staff only.

Under the Google Admin console they set this page to open immediately when any staff member logs into their Chromebook giving them quick access to loads of tools.

I thought it was cool anyway!

In the top right corner of the Google Sites page, you can set who has access to view the Published site by clicking on the 'share' button (the little figure with a plus sign) and then you can find the published URL under the Publish arrow button. Hope that helps!

can this site be brought up every time someone logs into their gafe account or does it only work on chrome books.

With thanks to Pauric I've managed to do this, this week. The site opens everytime I log in to Google workspace. Mine is not as sofisicapted but has links to our school hub, our dlt handbook & staff wellbeing site. Lovely addition. Thanks for sharing Pauric.

Thanks for that tip. 

It looks like the authorizations through google-groups have also started working again. 

Great . I hardly used google-sites for years. But if I can use it together with groups again, I will start using it more. 

Has anybody else used authorization through groups?

I really like this idea

We have about 30 Chromebooks in our school and I was wondering is there any way of setting a Google Site I create as the main home page on just the pupil devices from the Google admin panel? 

We have devices allocated to a sub domain address e.g cb...@pupils.sons.ie

Put the students in an OU. 

In admin go to Devices>Chrome>Settings>Users and Browsers

Select the OU for students and configure one or both of the following:

Start-up > Pages to load on start-up

and/or

New tab page
