ATU - LCCS Easter Revision sessions 2026

Hi All, 

 

We are scheduling our Easter revisions for Monday 30th March and Tuesday 31st March.


The workshops will provide expert guidance, exam-focused strategies, and clear explanations of key topics for students currently studying for Leaving Certificate Computer Science.

 

Monday - Exam Mark Breakdown & Exam Strategy Workshop

Students will receive a detailed breakdown of the 2026 exam marking scheme, helping them understand exactly how marks are awarded and where to focus their efforts.

This session will equip students with practical strategies to maximise marks and avoid common mistakes.

Theory Revision Sessions

Key theory topics will be explained clearly, including:

  • Internet and the World Wide Web – know the difference
  • Internet hardware and infrastructure
  • Communication protocols
  • The Client–Server model
  • Networking fundamentals
  • The TCP/IP Model – all layers explained clearly (Higher Level)
  • Turing Machines (Higher Level)

 

These sessions will strengthen students’ understanding of essential concepts that regularly appear on the exam.

 

Tuesday - Exam Paper Walkthrough and Guidance

Students will benefit from a step-by-step walkthrough of the 2025 exam paper, including:

  • Section C: Programming Paper (Higher and Ordinary Level)
  • Written Paper: Sections A and B (Higher and Ordinary Level)

 

This walkthrough will show students exactly how to approach questions and structure their answers for maximum marks.

 

Programming Support Session

Students will also receive focused programming support, including:

  • An in-depth tutorial on for loops
  • Clear explanations and examples
  • Guidance on how programming concepts are assessed in the exam

Advanced Entry Applications are welcome for entry to stage 2 of a programme at ATU, following completion of a cognate QQI FET Level 6 Major award. Transfers into years two, three or four are also welcome from those who have completed learning in a cognate area in another Higher-Level Institute (HEI). Further Information
