Hi all,

I have used Green Screen this year with my 2nd class on a presentation on autumn in our local woods. We took a walk in the woods and used video and images as the background to present information on autumn. We presented the video for Science week to the other classes in the school on Zoom.
My theme this week is winter and I was hoping to do a green screen project in Irish where the children tell the Aimsir.

Has anyone done this before?

Is there an interactive map of Ireland with weather images which can be moved easily to which I could use for the background?

I am using Do Ink app.

Thank you,

Emma

Hi Emma
You could use something like Keynote to mock up a map with the weather you need to use a background. Animating it would take a little more effort as you would need to match the timing. There are some newer features in Doink that could work for you too. You can add an extra layer and animate some features within the app now. If you want to email me off list I can run through it with you.

Hi Emma,
If you are a subscriber to Twinkl, you could download their weather role-play map with symbols. If you search    "Weather Forecast Role-Play Pack - Republic of Ireland Map" on Twinkl, you'll find it. You would have to use the snipping tool in windows, or even paint, to separate the weather symbols and save them individually. As Cormac said in his response, you'll still have to use PowerPoint or something similar to make it interactive for your students, but the symbols would have a uniform look about them.
John.

Hi Emma,

This is a link to a video I made about how to use Keynote and the iPad to create a weather forecast – tá sé as Gaeilge though, mar sin tá súil agam go bhfuil sé intuigthe /úsáideach.

Thank you Cormac, Roisin and John,

All great food for thought there. I had forgotten about Keynote and how useful it is for the animating. I might get them to draw their own weather symbols/animations in Do Ink and link those over the map when they mention that particular aimsir. They are so excited about it and are getting their scripts ready. A few of them got Green Screen kits over Christmas as they love it.

Kind regards,

Emma
