I'm trying to re-calibrate my IWB but am having no luck.
Nothing happens when I hover the pen over the top left (although this
used to work - possibly only with the previous version?)

Their help file brings up the following but I can't see any
"ActivManager icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the display")

Any suggestions?

Noel

Three ways to calibrate your ActivBoard

How you calibrate the ActivBoard depends on the type of ActivBoard.

Method 1

Hover the ActivPen over the Calibration light in the top-left corner
of the ActivBoard for a few seconds.

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 2

Right-click on the ActivManager icon in the bottom right-hand corner
of the display.

Select Calibrate.

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Check that the tip of your ActivPen lines up with the cursor on the
ActivBoard. If it does not, try Method 3.

Method 3

On your computer:

Right-click on the ActivManager icon in the bottom right-hand corner
of the screen.

Select Calibrate.

Once the calibration program starts, move to the board and follow the
on-screen instructions.

After calibrating, check that the tip of your ActivPen lines up with
the cursor on the ActivBoard. If it does not, reset the board by
switching it off for thirty seconds. Then switch it on and try
calibrating again, or contact technical support.

Hi Noel,

The ActivManager is the little Promethean icon that should appear down in
the Taskbar (see Attached ...although I'm not sure if our CESIlist takes
attachments). If the icon appears correctly, then all should work well. If
however, the icon has a red X through it, this would indicate that the board
itself is not connected.

It sounds in your case as if you have no icon at all, or the board is not
connected.

Check that the USB cable is connected at both ends. Check that there is
indeed a light showing in the top left of the board ...if not, then there is
no Power going to the board. There is an on/off switch on the left side of
the (newer) ActivBoards, tucked in behind (alongside Volume control etc.)
...check that it's colour status has gone from red to green.

Does the Stylus work ...in the sense that there is a response but that there
is a gap between the Tip and the Pointer? If so, then this would indicate
that the board has Power and the USB are connected.

HTH,
David

Thanks David,
no it all works, just a gap between where I put the pen and where it
appears on the screen. I got your icon and yes it was what I was
looking for, but for the life of me I can't find it on the "bottom
right hand corner of the display"

Hi Noel,

On Windows 7: To get the Taskbar icon(s) to appear (or otherwise), right
click on the Taskbar and look for 'customize the notification icons'
...search for ActivManager and change its drop-down to read 'Show Icon and
Notifications' (and not just 'Show Notifications')
This can also be accessed via the Control Panel: Control Panel\All Control
Panel Items\Notification Area Icons

But having said all that, if there is "just a gap" then Hovering (but not
clicking nor right clicking of course) about 1 cm over the Light on the Top
right should work in your case (and for all versions of the ActivBoard)

It's windows XP and when I right-click on the task-bar I get
"Customise" then a small range of opitons including "show only icons"?

I would offer to ring to prevent clogging up inboxes but phone has
been mislaid since yesterday.
This is also why I haven't rung the promethean help line; their first
quesion will be "are you by your board?"

The main problem is that "hovering" doesnt work like it used to.

Okay, Noel, there is some discussion on the Promethean Forum at
http://www.prometheanplanet.ru/forum/showthread.php?t=7273
to do with Drivers and USB sockets.
Another idea: would an ActivPen from another board work? Might a new battery
be needed?

This sounds like a a good answer:
"ActivManager should automatically launch at startup but to manually run it
you can go to C:\Program Files\Activ Software\ActivDriver and in there you
will see a file called ActivMgr.exe - also in here is calib.exe to launch
the calibration."
